Policija u New Yorku uhitila je muškarca iz New Jerseyja u srijedu navečer pri pokušaju ulaska u katoličku katedralu St. Patrick s dva kanistra puna benzina.
Čovjek je identificiran kao Marc Lamparello iz New Jerseyja.
Katedrala St. Patrick nalazi se na Petoj aveniji između 50. i 51. ulice preko puta Rockefellerovog Centra u jednom od najprometnijih područja Manhattana.
New York NBC 4 izvijestio je:
37-godišnji muškarac iz New Jerseyja, koje su izvori u policiji identificirali kao Marca Lamparella, došao je u srijedu oko 8 sati navečer do katedrale s najmanje dva plastična kanistra napunjena benzinom, izjavili su newyorška policija i visoki policijski dužnosnik.
Snage sigurnosti zaustavile su muškarca blizu ulaza u katedralu prije nego je mogao ući unutra, tvrde dva visoka policijska dužnosnika.

The suspect's story to police? "His basic story was that he was cutting through the cathedral to get to Madison Avenue – that his car had ran out of gas."
But police then looked at the suspect's vehicle. "It was not out of gas. At that point, he was taken into custody."
